Header for FOUROAKSFLO

Well, I guess I screwed that up. I wanted to change the picture but the title couldn’t be seen on the picture. So I changed the layout. But I really don’t like it, but I can’t figure how to put it back how it was. So for now it will stay how it is.

All I have been doing the last couple of days is getting ready for my garage sale. This past Saturday and Sunday I had it open but I didn’t advertise it. I just put a garage sale sign out front. I got a few people. I made about $ 50 dollars. I have advertised it for this weekend. So hopefully I get enough people to get rid of some of the stuff.

Tomorrow, Jerry and I are taking a break and going to the Mohegan Sun. We will be taking a bus that runs to Mohegan Sun every Thursday. Mohegan Sun is a casino in Connecticut. There is another casino in about 10 miles away from the Sun called Foxwoods but they don’t have to many bus runs there. Wish us luck.

Weeding the Garden

Sunday, I started bringing things up from the basement to put in garage for my garage sale. In the afternoon Jerry said we needed a break so we went for a ride. We stopped at Grandma’s for ice-cream but the place was so busy so we went to town and stopped at Udderly Delicious for ice cream. (That’s a little play with the words. Ice cream is made from milk from cows and cows have udders.) The ice cream there is almost as good as Grandma’s. We then went up and around the Great Sacandaga Lake. I tried to take a few pictures while riding.

Today, I’ve been working in my flower gardens. I’ve been weeding them whenever I get the chance. I did some last week and finished today. I like to weed early in the day when it isn’t to hot out yet.

This past week I have been setting up my garage sale also. I cleaned out the basement a couple of weeks ago. I put aside anything that I didn’t want anymore to go into the sale. I have a lot of junk. I just hope I can get rid of it all. I don’t want any of it to go back into to basement.

Its been nice out all weekend. Monday was nice also. It started out nice and sunny this morning but late this afternoon it started to rain and tonight it is pouring out.

Tonight, for some reason I can’t get online. I think it is because of the rain. I do my blogs offline first then upload them. I probably won’t get this posted until tomorrow.

Boring

Not much going on. It has been rainy the last couple of days. Wednesday the 16th it rain off and on all day. Jerry left this morning to go with Terry and a couple other fellas to play golf at a resort in the Catskills. They played 18 holes Wednesday and stayed overnight and played 18 holes Thursday.  I didn’t do to much in morning on Wednesday, because I was waiting for a serviceman to come to clean the furnace. It should be done at least once a year. He didn’t get here until about 2:30. It took him about 45 minutes to get the job done. After he left I went shopping and didn’t get home until about 7:00. Thursday, I made bread pudding. I tried a recipe the I got from a blog I read. It came out OK. Jerry eat it after he got home. After that I went out to get some weeding done in the flower beds. You wouldn’t believe the weed with all this rain.

Well, today the sun is out and I’ll have to get mowing the lawn. Tuesday I mowed some, got quite a bit done so today I hope to finish it. It’s a never ending job.

Last night Jerry started the railing on the front porch. It will be different from the railing on the deck. The deck railing is nice but like most decks. The railing for the front porch is cedar with metal spindles. I think it will look pretty nice. I’ll take pictures of both when it is done.

Everyday Things

Not much has been going on this week.

Didn’t do much on Saturday. At night we went over to Bvy & John’s place. John wasn’t there because he had to work. Arlene and Gary was there. We had a nice visit.

Sunday, Jeff said he didn’t need Jerry’s help at the house so we decided to take a ride up to Lois’. It had turned a lot cooler plus it rained most of the day.  Jerry helped her turn her water and furnace on in her camper. She isn’t staying there yet because it hasn’t been nice enough. So, she is all set to go camping anytime she wants to. She has a small apartment in town but during the summer she likes to spent the time in the camper that is set up permanently at a campsite. It is at a nice spot.

Monday, I stayed home and did work around house. I also finished the last part of the lawn mowing.

Tuesday, I went over to my friend Nancy’s house in the morning. We had a nice visit. After I left her home I went on down into town and did some grocery shopping. In the afternoon I weeded my flower garden. I have still quite a bit more to do.

Wednesday, I didn’t do anything interesting. It has been just to chiller to do anything outside.

Today, I have been reading most of the day. Mostly, on line reading blogs.

Golfing up North

Well, not much going on this week. I was supposed to go get a mammogram and bone density test Tuesday but they called to reschedule them for Friday.

Wednesday, I had some blood work done. While I was in town I walked on the bike path for an hour. I don’t like walking where we live because there is no shoulder on road and the cars fly by to fast. After I got home I did some mowing. I mowed for about 3 hours. When Jerry got home from working on Jeff’s house in the evening he worked on deck for awhile. Then he decided that he wanted to get an ice cream cone at Grandma’s.  Grandma’s has the best ice cream around. I only had a baby cone but it is huge.  Well, there go my walk results.

Thursday, I did a little more mowing before I went to get my hair done. I needed a permanent. When I got home I did a little more mowing.

Friday, I started mowing about 10:00 and mowed until noon. Jerry came home so he decided to go with me when I went for my tests. Then we went golfing. We got a cart because it was the first time that we played at this course. We did alright but nothing great. After we got done with golf we went to Romano’s  Pizza for dinner. Jerry got a BBQ trio. Ribs, chicken and shrimp. He said it was good. I had the haddock special. It had a feta cheese and crumble topping on it. It was not my usual fish fry that I like. I probably won’t have it again.

When we got home after Jerry unloaded the golf bags in garage he decided to back the truck up to the deck and do some more work on it. Well, he miss guessed the distance and backed into a tree. He had the tail gate down on the truck and hit the tree with the tailgate and made a nice dent.  So now that has to be fixed.

Last night it rained in the night so the grass is to wet yet to mow. I’ll probably go out later and finish mowing. So far I have about 5 hours on mower this week.

Home

Well, I’m home now. Guess what was in the garage when we pulled in after I got home from Colorado. A new lawn mower. Jerry put it in the garage so I could see it as soon as I got home. It is a John Deere, 54 inch cut riding lawn tractor. It is bigger than the one I had which was only a 48 inch cut.

So, the next day that is what I was doing. Jerry used the old mower while I used the new one. We got the lawn mowed in about 3 hours. We have a large lawn.

Since then all I have been doing is getting caught up in the work around the house.

Here is picture of the old TV that Jerry thought was to small.

Here is a picture of new one that was installed while I was away. The old one will be going to Florida to be used in the mobile down there.

While I was away Jerry did a lot of small jobs around the house that needed to be finished. He put the railing on the deck that is about 20 years old.

He also put in a door that he made to go into the attic. We had a piece of plastic hanging over the opening for years. He has to put a closure on it yet, so it will shut better.

On the front porch he is changing the steps. Then he will add a different kind of railing on that. We have to order the spindles for it yet.

Friday night we went out to dinner with some of our friends. Terry , Jackie, Gary, Tucky, Mike & Laurie went to Lombardo's to have dinner. It is a pizza place but they have fresh fish fry on Friday nights.

Saturday, I had to get a few more flowers for my pots that I put around the yard. I also got some flowers to put on my parents graves. Plus, I put some flowers on both sets of my grandparents plus my oldest sister Bonnie, that died when she was only 32 years old.

Sunday, we went to a party at Gary and Arlene’s house. Bob, Bruce, John and Bvy were there. Sally and Barry from the mobile home park also came over with his brother Duane and wife Sheila. We had a beautiful day for it. Here are some pictures that I took.

Today, Memorial Day was to be another nice day so we went for a ride. We went down into the Catskills. I wanted to see if I could find a place that my other sister Bobbie had worked at between her junior and senior year. It was about 55 years ago. It was a summer resort called Sugar Maples in a small town called Maplecrest that the rich people can up from New York City to vacation there. I remember my parents and my younger sister Lois and I would go down there to see her on Sundays. It was a very nice place then. It had a beautiful pool with tennis courts. It even had its own fire dept. We went down there about 10 years ago but everything was grown up with brush so we didn’t see to much. Now, there is an artist group trying to revive the place. They did over a couple of the buildings but some of the bigger building that was the dinning hall and hotel entrance are pretty run down. When Bobbie worked there she stayed in a small room on top floor.

After that we went west  to Margaretville. Jerry will be playing golf there in a couple of weeks and he wanted to check it out. We then drove to Delhi and got on route 10 north the rest of the way home.

Well, I hope everybody had a nice day to honor the veterans and enjoyed your holiday.
